Minor Rehabilitation Program

In an effort to encourage City of Miami Gardens homeowners to upgrade and maintain the aesthetics of their homes and community, the City has created the Miami Gardens Rehabilitation Initiative. The goal of the program is to improve curb appeal and assist homeowners with creating outdoor spaces they can enjoy and feel proud of while fostering community pride.
The Minor Repair Program will provide home repair assistance to extremely low, very low, low, and moderate-income owner-occupied single-family homes located within the corporate limits of the City of Miami Gardens. The City will provide deferred payment loan assistance to eligible homeowners to carry out repairs limited to the exterior of the home and site, consistent with city codes.
To qualify for assistance via Miami Gardens Rehabilitation applicant(s) must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Applicant(s) must own and occupy the subject property within the City limits
- Property must be the applicant/s primary residence and homesteaded
- Applicant(s) must have lived in the primary residence for a minimum of 3 years
- Be current on all existing mortgage(s), real estate tax assessments, and HOA dues
- Applicant cannot have more than one unsatisfied mortgage/lien against the property for which they are applying for assistance.
- Have an annual household income which does not exceed 120% of the Area Median Income:

Types of Assistance:
- Painting
- Exterior repairs
- Demolition of accessory structures
- Roof repair/replacement
- Correct exterior/site code violations in conjunction with repairs to the home
- Tree removal/Sod replacement to mitigate damage to the structure or foundation
Aesthetic-Based Landscaping
- Installation of hedges, sod, and small plants/flowers
- Planting of shrubs.
