Captain - James E. Hughes sr.

James served as a Pettie Officer in the Unites States Navy for six years, prior to joining the police service in 1987. He then served as a Police Officer with the Quincy Police Department in Quincy, Florida as; a GIU Detective, GIU Sergeant, Operations Lieutenant and Captain; 2006 he was employed with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office in Quincy, Florida as the Assistant Director of Emergency Management Operations; he is currently an Operations Captain with the City of Miami Gardens Police Department in Miami Gardens, Florida.

James holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice(Magna Cum Laude) from Springfield College in Springfield, Ma., and have completed numerous Career Service Courses such as; Chief Executive Seminar, Managing the Patrol Functions, Criminal Patrol Drug Enforcement, Decision Making&Problem Solving, CMS General Instructor Transition, Basic Driving Instructor, Field Training Officer, Human Diversity Instructor Awareness, Hostage Negotiations, Police Media Relations, Case Prep/Court Presentation, Computer Applications In Criminal Justice, Domestic Violence Investigations, Sex Crime Investigations, Narcotic Identification and Investigations, Injury and Death Investigations Occult Investigations and Police Internal Affairs.

James has served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Gadsden Association Rehabilitation Center in Quincy, Florida for several years. He has taught Gang Resistance Courses in the local middle school of Quincy and Drug Resistance Courses in the elementary schools. He is currently on the list to attend the National FBI Academy. He has been married to his wife for 23 years and they have two children.
